This beautiful ex racehorse mare, Lylah is looking for a new permanent loan home as owner is down horsing due to having four!
Came to Thorncroft last spring with a knee injury and has since had a pelvic injury so is just coming back into light work now. Lylah lived out all winter and is a good doer, and is the sweetest, most kind natured mare to handle.
Lylah is looking for a loving home as either a companion or a light hack with someone who is going to spoil her rotten. If you wish to know any more information on Lylah pleased contact Andrea through the contact details on the home page of this site. c

An Update on Trove

owner all the success for the future.
Summer
It's been a busy few months at Thorncroft with all hands on deck with lots of recent new arrivals.
We've heard the pitter patter of tiny feet with our finest two broodmares, Andrea, and livery (and loving owner of ex racehorse Sparky) Emma, both giving birth in the summer months. Andrea to the beautiful baby girl Zilliah, and Emma to the strapping young lad Jamie.
We've had the return of a Thorncroft legend, Magic, the bay new forest pony coming back for the summer and in the meantime giving Thorncroftians lots of fun.
Our most recent ex racehorse arrival is the gorgeous Silvee. This little mare is beautiful with a kind, loving personality. Came to Thorncroft due to a minor tendon injury and is due to be brought back into work in the next few days. If you would like to know some more information on Silvee please get in contact with Andrea through the details on our homepage.

Trove

In the short time he's been with us, Rocky has learnt to be a horse again and has been integrated into the small herd here.
Rocky never wanted to race but has proven to be highly adaptable and a fast learner, becoming very popular at the yard with his dependable attitude and stunning looks. There have been lots of interested from possible new homes for Rocky as he has the potential to go far in any sphere of work.

Mild Ginger Alice

Mad Ginger Alice
This spritely young mare certainly lives up to her name. Alice has not been with us long but had fitted in literally within a few days, Alice arrived with a daunting reputation often referred to as a savage,by no means would you run up to her and give her a bear hug but with time and trust this mare has become,as often said at Thorncroft, ‘pucker!’
We
are over the moon to have found Alice the perfect home that she
deserves besides the sea where we all can imagine how much fun she is
going to have.
Recently
Alice took a trip to Epsom downs ridden by Michael along side Hot
spark (another Thorncroft rehoming success) ridden by Jessica. After
a good thirty minute hack to the downs,Alice had not put a foot
wrong. At the downs Andrea was ready at the top of the hill with the
camera switched on, and of they set into a leisurely canter, no
silliness whatsoever. Once they both felt comfortable Michael opened
her up, before he knew it they were past Andrea at the top of the
hill, Michael was beaming; 'what an amazing experience to ride such a
speed machine' ,they pulled up a stood all buzzing from a good clear
of the cobwebs.
We
really look forward to this amazing mares future because we know she
will make her knew owner as happy as she has made us.
The Old Boy Pulled Through
As
you may have seen in the gallery this is Yorkie.
Yorkie arrived at Thorncroft back in 2010 where Michael took him on as a sixth month loan. Michael took him on having no confidence what so ever, with patience and understanding Andrea put up with the trembling fifteen year old on the end of the lead rope having vowed she would have Michael galloping him within a couple of weeks. This seemed a long way away but she had faith and literally within a couple of weeks there was no stopping them.

To
cut a very long story short, Yorkie remains at Thorncroft stables
back with his owner Olivia where he is so very happy roaming his
lovely field and snuggling in his bedroom at night. When we took
Yorkie on both his owners and myself were said to have been told
Yorkie was sixteen by the dealer he was bought off but after having
the dentist out Yorkie is said to be in his mid to late twenties.
This came as a massive shock to us as he really does act like a three
year old.
Recently
Michael got an alarmed phone call of Olivia telling him to get to the
field quickly were Olivia had found Yorkie lying down and reluctant
to get up. Michael rushed down and helped her get the old man to his
feet and remove his rug so we could have a look, it was clear he had
colic and the vet was called immediately. What was a worry was that
Yorkie didn't have age on his side. After being examined and pumped
full of laxatives, it was a waiting game to see if he would pull
through, see Yorkie never fails to surprise me, touch wood he is back
to his normal self and trooping on like the tough old boy he is, look
out for more updates on this very much loved grumpy old Anglo Arab.
