Happy 3rd Birthday Dexter.

We all wish Dexter a very Happy 3rd Birthday. Dexter is Andrea's son and is regularly found at the yard grooming horses, riding his quad bike or getting into trouble with his buddy Archie. We are having a barbeque this afternoon with a childrens entertainer and a bouncy castle as well (supposedly for the kids...). Chiara has very kindly spent the morning blowing up balloons and sweeping the yard whilst Andrea has been running around getting the horses done and organising. I have to say the yard looks awesome! Lets hope the weather holds so we can celebrate Thorncroft Style!

The Ginger One Cometh....

Well Bembo arrived at 8.30 this morning and seems to be settling in just fine. He caused quite a stir when presented to the others in the field. Somehow I don't think it will be long before they are all being led astray by the little monster. Happy retirement old boy!!

The Boss Is Coming Home

..Okay so the more observant of you may have noticed the deliberate mistake on the website www.thorncorftstables.co.uk in case you had forgotten. It states that Bembo is already with us when in truth he doesn't actually arrive until saturday. Sorry for my little faux pas. Now that is out of the way let me get on with introducing you to Bembo. Owned from the age of 4 by Linda (responsible for schooling most of the racers) the blonde one in the photo's (she is going to kill me). Bembo in his career has jumped pretty much everywhere possible for a pony to jump in the UK. Hickstead, Scope, Wales and West and it goes on. Piloted by Linda's sister Nicole their past opponents list reads like a who's who of the current UK showjumping scene. He is now 31 and is on his way to Thorncroft where he will probably teach the current crop of ex racers some bad attention grabbing habits...... We don't mind really as he is a bit of a superstar and hope he settles in quickly and enjoys the rest of his retirement with us.

There is someone to see you Mr President

We have some potential new owners coming to see Barack Obama this weekend so fingers crossed!! What a cracking horse he is. He is the type who will work all day long (thinking Joey from Warhorse although I am not really allowed to mention that film) and came with an advisory from the trainer saying that he needs to be constantly exercised. Well I think he is a dude and will become an awesome competitor in whatever discipline he ends up doing. He was up against the best on the track so why not? Good Luck Barack…

Sold......

Well Thorncroft hasn’t stood still for the last couple of day’s. It looks like Clearwater Bay (George) will be a permanent fixture at the yard (pictured with Michael). He has been bought by Claire and is now a proper member of the Thorncroft family. George you seem to be liking your new life here at Thorncroft and I am sure you are going to be a star of the future (We do actually say that about all the horses we produce!?!) and your fine self and Claire will make a great team.. Bit of a relief for all as there were quite a few around the yard checking their bank accounts to see if we could keep him here…. So another success story concluded.

We just need to find someone suitable for my personal fave Ebony Boom (Boo Bear) I prefer Boomer and Linda my other half thinks he should be called Ebony. He is slightly more ‘spirited’ than the ‘almost horizontal’ George but equally as beautiful….

Clearwater Bay (George) First Impressions.

Rode George who arrived yesterday, ex racer, well he is beautiful, soft mouth, floaty trot, doesn't bat an eyelid at anything, adore him, wish I could have him.

Maddie and Barney

This is 9 year old Maddie one of the more junior members of Thorncroft attempting her first jump on her new pony Barney. Barney is a 7 year old Welsh Section A who has settled into the Thorncroft lifestyle very well. If Carlsberg made first ponies......

Andrea and Percy

Andrea doing what she does best. Spending countless hours tending to the Ex Racehorses at Thorncroft. One of the many reasons we call her Ange Almighty!!
